A Magical Musical Morning: Our Cambridge Pre-Schoolers Visit KCS Cambridge

At Monkey Puzzle Grange Road, our Cambridge day nursery, we believe some of the richest early years learning happens beyond our own front door. This week our pre-schoolers enjoyed a truly magical morning out, visiting KCS Cambridge for a music session full of singing, dancing, and drumming. It is just one of the ways we bring extra-curricular activities and the wider community into our children’s nursery experience.

Singing, Dancing, and Drumming

The children had a wonderful time singing and dancing along to Dingle Dangle Scarecrow, a firm favourite that had everyone on their feet. They then explored different rhythms and enjoyed getting hands-on with drumming, discovering how to make and follow a beat. Our little ones came back to nursery absolutely buzzing with excitement and could not wait to show their teachers all the new techniques they had learned.

Why Music Matters in the Early Years

A morning of music is about far more than a good sing-song. Following a rhythm, copying a beat, and moving to a song all help young children develop listening skills, coordination, memory, and confidence. Visiting a new setting also gives our pre-schoolers a gentle taste of the wider world and a boost of independence as they get ready for the next step in their learning journey. For your child, that means childcare that is full of joy, curiosity, and new experiences, with every outing carefully chosen to help them grow.
